Ms MacDowell herself, 53, who shot to fame after starring alongside Hugh Grant in 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral, was also a model for Vogue before breaking into acting.
She has since returned to her first career, and is currently one of the faces of L'Oreal.
Rainey and Sarah Margaret, with their brother Justin, are Ms Macdowell's children from her relationship with Mr Qualley, who she met while shooting a Gap campaign.
The couple were married for 13 years, from 1986 to 1999, during which time she referred to herself as Rosie Qualley.
