Alexa Chung stars in the latest Superga spring/summer 2012 campaign. Still, besides modeling for the Italian footwear brand, the 28-year-old Brit TV presenter and sartorial muse also had the chance to style Superga's 2750 heritage sneakers as creative director for the new campaign. Check out the results!
Alexa Chung is everywhere these days. Whether there are glossy magazine covers, TV shows or ad campaigns for famous brands, the 28-year-old is constantly in the center of people's attention. This time, the Brit It-girl and fashion muse for girls around the world stars in the newest Superga spring/summer 2012 campaign. Still, Chung doesn't just models for the legendary Italian footwear brand but she also puts to the test her styling skills as creative director for Superga's latest campaign.

"We are really excited to have Alexa be part of our story, especially for the centennial year anniversary. She is one of the most influential style icons of our time and a huge Superga fan. I think her effortless style and personality suits our own collection and brand so well," said Simon Bamber, chief executive officer of GLindverst, the company that owns the rights for Superga in the UK.

The new Superga spring/summer 2012 campaign was named 'Go Create' and it was shot in Miami. Lovely Alexa teamed up with renowned photographer Guy Aroch in order to find the perfect way to express the Italian brand's 'versatility and sense of fun' by teaming the label's 2750 sneakers based on her own sartorial view.

The collaboration between Chung and Superga began last year when the Brit beauty modeled for the 100-year-old sneaker brand's spring campaign. Known for her unique rather quirky style, Ms Chung has been chosen as the label's face due to her effortless style and personality. Speaking about Superga’s centennial celebrations, Chung said that, "I'm a fan of Superga because like anything I love how they're classic, practical and elegant. Happy 100th birthday guys - I hope I'm that cool when I'm 100!"

High on fashion and style

There was some high fashion, great music and all sorts of beverages to keep the spirits soaring at the launch of Avirate, an international high-street fashion label at UB City recently.

It’s the cut, design and the price of Avirate and its ability to cater to the changing fashion tastes of the young that’s made the brand popular across the world. And now, after a survey and study of the fashion taste of Bangaloreans, Avirate has launched its latest line here.

The evening was anchored by RJ Rohit Barker, who kept the crowd on their feet in a lively manner. A few of the City’s best known models showcased Avirate’s latest ‘Fall-Holiday Collection’, which comprised a range of day and evening wear, lingerie, shoes and accessories in diverse patterns and designs.

The ‘Daywear’ theme was inspired by Paris and incorporates a modern take on 1920s’ styling. Shapes include Bohemian kaftans, basic shifts, wrap dresses and playful jumpsuits and rompers. It has everything that one needs from dawn to dusk.

‘Myriad Prints’ include animal prints, ethnics graphics and florals motifs while ‘Colours’ include shades of blue, white and raspberry underpinned with lowlights of black as well as saffron, cinnamon and tobacco with a highlight of teal.

The ‘Evening Wear’ collection is chic, inspired by glamour in a vibrant array of colours. Prints, pleats, origami and embellishments add the extra bling. It is said that Avirate is meant for women of all shapes and sizes. “We cater to women from 18 to 45 years. The fabric is light and easy to carry off. The price too is made affordable to college-goers and working professionals,” said the spokesperson of Avirate.

The evening saw the Page 3 regulars attending the event in large numbers. The show that was choreographed by Sheetal Sharma was in tune with the funky collection. More than the launch, it was an occasion for families and friends to get together. Although the evening began a good hour-and-a-half late, people didn’t seem to mind the delay and hung around chatting and socialising.

Avirate boasts of a talented team of designers who keep pace with the changing fashion tastes across the world. The brand introduces new styles each week. Those who came for the show said what struck them most was the impressive range of wearable clothes.

Dayana Erappa, a model, said that she really loved what she wore. “The store looks posh and stylish from the outside but I must say the collection is wearable and price is most affordable. I didn’t think twice before picking a top I really liked,” she said. Seema, another guest at the event said, “The clothes are colourful and I also found something that I have been looking for.”

Using Jilly in the Christmas campaign follows in the path of this diversity trail, which most recently saw the launch of ‘The Style List’- an aspirational photography campaign featuring women in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.

The Style List ran in stores in autumn 2010 and received an astounding reaction from customers and press, who were delighted to see beautiful, stylish women, whom they could relate to, representing them in photographic materials.

Michelle Dowdall, spokesperson for Debenhams commented: “We are committed to using a variety of models, which are a variety of shapes, sizes and ages in our photography.

“Our customers are buying into a lifestyle which they feel is representative of themselves, their own tastes and of similar ages.”
